Congratulations to the Federal Managers Association, 19 Pearl Harbor Area Chapter, which has been selected as the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation, Highways Division, Oahu District’s Fourth Quarter 2015 Adopt-A-Highway Champions!

The Federal Managers Association route for the Adopt-A-Highway program is on Nimitz Highway leading into and out of Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.

“We’ve got a great group of volunteers,” said Pedro Quintal of the Federal Managers Association. “Our crews are made up not only of Federal Managers Association employees, but their family members, sailors from the base, and anyone else we can round up. It’s a real community commitment we have, and everyone feels good about making a difference. We’re proud to be a member of the Adopt-A-Highway program.”

Quintal says during quarterly cleanups, their volunteers find the usual expected debris – bottles, cans, boxes, and cigarette butts. But during one cleanup, a volunteer came across something quite unexpected.

“It was an envelope with two crisp $100 dollar bills,” Quintal said. “Needless to say, he was pretty excited.”

Special thanks to the volunteers at Federal Managers Association, 19 Pearl Harbor Area Chapter, for their efforts in helping prevent trash from entering our storm drains and polluting our waters. We are proud to recognize their commitment to the Adopt-A-Highway program!
